NTT America has been awarded a GSA Schedule 70 contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for offering of its IPv6 products. NTT America is the recognized leader in IPv6 networking, and pleased to offer IPv6 transit services to the U.S. Government, Agencies, Military, and Contractors in 4 continents at speeds up to 10GigE.
The contract enables the U.S. government, including the military and any affiliated branch of government including state and local governments, to easily procure NTT America's IPv6 transit products. In addition to its IPv6 transit services, NTT America offers several IPv6-related products, including transition consulting services, Internet access, Ethernet access, managed firewalls and managed CPE support.
It is important for purchasing agents of these entities to reference our contract number so that purchases of IPv6 transit services may be made directly from NTT America.
Why is IPv6 Important to the Government?
On August 2, 2005, the Office of Management Budget issued Memorandum M-05-22, "Transition Planning for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6)", establishing the goal of enabling all Federal government agency network backbones to support the next generation of the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) by June 30, 2008.
The memorandum requires the agency's network backbone to be ready to transmit both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic, and support IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, by June 30, 2008. Agencies must be able to demonstrate they can perform at least the following functions, without compromising IPv4 capability or network security:
- Transmit IPv6 traffic from the Internet and external peers, through the network backbone (core), to the LAN.
- Transmit IPv6 traffic from the LAN, through the network backbone (core), out to the Internet and external peers.
- Transmit IPv6 traffic from the LAN, through the network backbone (core), to another LAN (or another node on the same LAN).
